US & Antigua Have a New Deadline for an Agreement Between Them
There is now a new deadline for an agreement to be made between the United States and the Caribbean island nation of Antigua. They are involved in a dispute over online gaming and their new deadline for a settlement is set for October 1st.The negotiations between the two countries came as a result of a challenge made by Antigua about the US' implantation of the UIGEA legislation which barred non US online gaming companies from tapping into the US market.
Antigua says that the United States is in violation of thier World Trade Organization (WTO) obligations due to the implantation of the UIGEA. This is a claim that is being upheld by the WTO and has resulted in the US making attempts to withdraw from these obligations.
There still isn't a settlement between the two parties and online bingo operators and online bingo halls in Antigua are hoping for a resolution soon as they were badly hit when the UIGEA was implemented.
