UK Bingo Might Be Headed Back Into the US
United Kingdom bingo operators have found some hope that they can once again have access to the US online gaming market. The introduction of Democrat Congressman Jim McDermott;s Internet Gambling Regulation and Tax Enforcement Act (IGRTEA) proposal is responsible for the new found hope. This is a direct challenge to the existing Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act that was passed in 2006. The IGRTEA was designed to help support Barney Frank's IGREA initiative by making sure that online gaming taxes are collected from all internet gambling within a regulated environment.
Over the next year regulated online gaming could generate revenues anywhere between $8.7 billion to $42.8 billion. Bingo halls and operators that aren't based in the US are currently restricted from operating in the US because of current UIGEA legislation.
