Security Guard Shot during Bingo Club Robbery
This past Sunday night the Gala Bingo Club in Walsgrave, Coventry was robbed. A masked gang entered the bingo club around 10:45 on Sunday night and the security was shot in the process. Though they attempted to rob the club, the gunman ran away empty handed.

When the four gunmen entered the Bingo Club they tried to rob the establishment of their earnings. The security guard became tangled up in the four men and before they fled the scene, the guard was shot in the leg. The guard is in stable condition at the hospital and there were no bingo players on the scene of the crime.

The robbers were unable to steal any money from the bingo clue and by Monday the club was still roped off as officers were searching for evidence. Detective Inspector Nigel Harrison, of Stoney Stanton Road police station, said: "This was an extremely serious incident. Fortunately the victim will make a full recovery."

A Gala Bingo Spokesman stated that they confirm there was a shooting at the branch in Coventry Walsgrave and that they are working with the police in the investigation. He also stated: “Our main concern is the security guard and our thoughts are with him. Luckily there were no customers in the club. We have very good security systems in place and everything is on CCTV, so we will do anything we can to help police.”

This could have been a far worse situation if bingo players had still been around, creating a more crowded area. Hopefully the four gunmen will be caught so this will not happen again. The culprits are believed to be driving a Vauxhall Astra.
