Employee Alledgely Steals $136K From Charity Bingo
According to a report from the Associated Press a North Dakota man allegedly attempted to steal more than $136,000 from a North Dakota bingo hall. The report states that the alleged, attempted theft occurred over a three year period. The suspect in the case, 33 year old Heath Volk who is accused of felony theft turned himself into authorities on Tuesday. The Bingo Palace Bingo Parlor, which is located in North Dakota is ran by the North Dakota Association for the Disabled. Ron Gibbens, president of the association reportedly told Associated Press reporters that Volk has been an employee of the bingo hall for more than 14 years. Volk was fired during the last months of 2007 as the theft allegations began to surface.
Detective Mike Flannery of the Grand Forks Police Department said the investigation began when management personnel at Bingo Palace "realized they had a problem with some missing money and started an audit."
