Boss Media Will Launch Finland's Online Bingo Site
GTECH and recently acquired subsidiary Boss Media have been chosen by Finland's state owned gaming operator Veikkaus to supply their platform and services for a national online bingo site. Under the current legislation gaming in Finland is divided between the three state owned operators, RAY, Fintoto and Veikkaus. Right now it is currently illegal for foreign owned gaming companies to operate of advertise in Finland. In addition to the online bingo contract GTECH has also signed a four year contract extension to continue providing software and serviced to Veikkaus, which operated Finland's national lottery.
The confirmation of the contract awards came yesterday as Lottomatica announced the results for the first quarter of 2008. The company said that the revenues for the quarter had increased by three percent versus the same period last year to €228.5 million.
They have also launched the first legal sports lottery in Taiwan last week in cooperation with Taipei Fubon Bank and the Hong Kong Jockey Club. The Taiwan sports lottery will soon be supplemented by online and phone betting channels, as they have been granted approval by the authorities. These services are expected to be launched within the next three months.
