Bingo for Breakthrough 2008 Teams up with Actress Michelle Collins
Bingo for Breakthrough is a campaign that has taken place over the past five years to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. Breakthrough Breast Cancer and The Bingo Association team up to create the campaign and have bingo clubs across the country turn pink for Bingo for Breakthrough Week which takes place October 19th-25th 2008.

Actress Michelle Collins will be the face of the campaign this year and recently modeled a ball gown created from bingo tickets for the launch of this year’s campaign. Michelle is encouraging players to go to their local bingo hall and get involved.

Michelle stated: “I am delighted to be supporting Bingo for Breakthrough 2008. It is a truly unique event that continues to receive a huge amount of support as well as raising a massive amount of money for this very important cause. I am really looking forward to a fun-filled, action-packed Bingo for Breakthrough week.”

Over the past five years the bingo campaign has raised £2.75million from the participating bingo clubs and hope to reach 3 million this year. All funds raised go toward the Breakthrough Breast Cancer research, campaigning and education work.

During the Bingo for Breakthrough Week, the clubs raise money by holding fundraising activities such as raffles to dress competitions. Members of bingo clubs will be offered a free game and be invited to make a donation to Breakthrough for a chance to win this year’s mascot. The clubs will also be selling pink dabbers where 75p from each sale will go directly to the campaign.
